My sister, mother and I saw the Chicago production yesterday afternoon. It was amazing. Sonny and Kira stole the show. The ensamble cast was hysterical. Even though we received many dirty looks from some laime people in the audiance for dancing in our seats, we were in heaven. It was one of my all time favorite plays. Thank you for a great Sunday.

I have been inspired by Xanadu and am sure that I'm not the only one. I only saw the show twice and regret it but am hopeful that it will return to Broadway. In fact I'm planning to write the producers and BEG them to do just that. After seeing the show I felt like I could do anything and have started expressing my creativity that has always been housed in the back of my mind. I listen to the CD almost everyday and search the internet for more information. In plain words; Xanadu is my muse and I don't want it to end. I'm crushed that its gone. If any of you guys feel the way I do then perhaps you will express your feelings to the the "gods" for one more run.

Xanadu was one of the very few things that without exception made my uncle Robin (who raised my brothers and myself) happy since my brother Trev died in 2002. He flew to NY 7 (!) times to see us and to experience Xanadu and, except for one visit last November, we saw it either 2 or 3 times each time he visited NY. We will miss Cheyenne and Kerry and the rest of the crazy insane and beloved cast of Broadway's biggest surprise hit musical ever. Shame on those who bought the Helen Hayes....are they the reason X was ended early? It couldn't be those 75% ticket sales. We'll see you in Xanadu on national tour next year. OMG I just found out that Xanadu is closing on October 12. I am completely devastated because I was planning on going to NYC Nov.7-11th to see the show. My friends and I were gonna dress up like gods and goddesses and sit on stage and everything. Of course with my luck, the moment I want to go and see a wonderful show it closes before I get there. Story of my life.

I just heard the devastating news!
To the producers, the crew and Douglas Carter Beane... thank you for giving us the gift so grand that NOW we truly know what it is: XANADU ON BROADWAY! Thank you to the entire cast for delivering EVERY SINGLE TIME! And for your complete dedication. I've been to see the show 11 or 12 times (can't remember) and I have L'dMAO and just completely enjoyed myself each of those times. Xanadu has been, at once, my addiction and my therapy. There will be other shows that I will visit, of course, but I already know they will not compare to Xanadu. Not in style and certainly not in Lpm (laughs per minute). Ever since the first time I sat in the Helen Hayes theater and witnessed the splendor that is Cheyenne Jackson with his sparkling blue eyes, amazing vocal talents and let's not forget - those cut off shorts, the fabulously professional Kerry Butler, her comedic genius and again - amazing vocal talents, Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman as the best and funniest duo to hit Broadway, Tony Roberts, Curtis Holbrook, Kenita Miller, Andre Ward, Patti Murin - I've been hooked. You never let me down. I just can't express to you enough, how much enjoyment I have gotten from this show. You will be sorely missed on Broadway! Today is a very dark day... Judy Brooklyn, NY |

Absolutely fantastic show....it has to come to the West End....

It was nice to re-visit Xanadu after a year.
The cast (sister muses) was superb as ever. So comfy in roles and delivering. Tony Roberts has eased into his Danny Maguire role and he is a blast to watch. Patti Murin (filling in for Keri Butler) last SAT did an excellent job. Mary Testa rocked it OUT!! great new lines fun to see Whoopee Goldberg in the flesh. the show remains a true gem. thanks |

I have loved Xanadu for about 27 years. Just saw the Broadway show and thought it was AMAZING. So much fun! Does anyone know where I can get a Xanadu skating jacket like Sonny and Kira wear at the end of the show? Thanks!

This is a great story....My sister and I grew up knowing that Olivia Newton John was our father's"girlfriend". Of course, my father was happily married to our mother but, in turn,my sister and I became obsessed with the moving, Xanadu when we were little girls. We knew every word to the movie and could sing along with many of the songs. Because it was the 80's and technology wasn't that great, my father actually audio taped the movie (with the boom box held up to the tv). He did this so my sister and I could play with our barbies and pretend that they were the characters in the movie...great memories for us. Unfortunately my father passed away this past May 3rd tragically to a massive heart attack at age 57. Around the time after his death is when my family and I found out that Xanadu was on broadway. My sister and I are trying to get to New York with our mother to see your show. We know that if and when we do, it will definitely be an emotional day for us but one that we are looking so forward to. Thank you for being a part of something that is so important to us. Hopefully we will see you soon!

The best show on Broadway...saw it without Cheyenne, but that's ok! Dying to see it come to Toronto! Come on Dancap or Mirvish! What are you waiting for?

I would just like to say happy birthday to Cheyenne. He turns 33 today! Can't wait until he's back in that show so I can come see him again.

I saw Xanadu for the 4th time yesterday for my birthday. It was amazing as always and this was my first time sitting on stage which made it even better! I know most of the cast already so being up there with them was great. I can't wait to come back again.Oh and by the way, Cheyenne Jackson is the sweetest guy alive. |

I agree with Brad! Kate Loprest should come back to Chicago! I LOVED her in Wicked and want her back here. She is the perfect Kira! You want to sell out shows, cast Kate as Kira. She won't let you down! LIFE LONG FAN! I LOVE LOPREST!
|

|
Just heard that Xanadu is coming to Chicago and I can't wait!!! Not sure if casting has happened yet, but if not, they should TOTALLY cast KATE LOPREST as Kira. Not only is she a local girl but her performance as Glinda in Wicked 2 summers ago in Chicago was BRILLIANT!!
She would absolutely be awesome in the role of Kira... Who's with me on this?!! |

I saw the show last night and everyone was fabulous. Kudos to Kerry and Andre!
Kerry, even though you'd been up since 6:30 you still managed to give a spectacular performance! I'll be rooting for you tomorrow night! |

Just wanted to wish the cast and crew of "Xanadu" best of luck and break legs at the Tonys next week! Although I have not yet seen the show, I fully intend to soon. I spent the morning viewing news/show clips and the show looks SO hysterical and awesome! Makes me miss the 80's badly. (YES, I said 'miss') I can't want to see the show.. break legs next Sunday! You have my vote. BTW, Kerry B.. you are completely FLAWLESS! Love you!
Sincerely, Marc (a huge Fanadu!!) |

I'm going to be in NYC in June, and got a Stage ticket. I can't wait to see the show!
Is there anything special I should know/bring/wear for the stage seating? (I saw an earlier post mentioning a group in togas, but I'm not sure I could carry that look off...

Hello fanadus! I'm coming to NYC (all the way from Europe) in August or October and after reading you fabulous comments and viewing your pics I really want to see XANADU! I would really appreciate it if you could clear few things up for me: will the show with its original cast still be playing in August/October ; how early do you have to come to get a ticket ; were those amazing photos with the cast taken before or after the show!
Thanks in advance!

I am so excited to see Xanadu this June! Being a Floridian (born and bred), this will be my first Broadway show ever! How long did most of you have to wait at the stage door to get pictures?
|

I've seen Xanadu twice so far...once in previews and once with on-stage seating, which was INCREDIBLE. I'm going again this Wednesday with my niece and nephews. The show is absolutely fun and absolutely wonderful. 90 mniutes of bliss. And the entire cast is always gracious to sign autographs at the stage door and they are the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. Jackie Hoffman, whom I've been a huge fan of for years, graciously posed for this pic with me. |

I saw the Saturday, April 12 matinee show with a group of 30 kids from my school's choir, and we were blown away! I got the cast recording the day it came out, and hearing it live by the original cast was phenomenonal. Cheyenne was....what can i say...beyond amazing, as well as Kerry. The show was so much fun. I mean, what musical do they sell glow sticks at, and encourage you to sway them in the air? And meeting the cast at the stage door made it that more better! |
|||||||||||
|
I saw the show last Saturday and it was fantastic!!! Kerry did a great job of breathing / talking like Olivia. I laughed out loud so many times; people were staring at me. Oh well...it was funny.
Cheyenne is stunning; oh my. Jackie and Mary were hysterical and the rest of the cast was great. Great casting job!!! |

Having been raised outside NYC, I have been fortunate enough to have attended Broadway shows for over 30 years. Seeing Xanadu and meeting Cheyenne Jackson was one of my theatrical highlights! Ever seen a grown man squeal like a schoolgirl? Well, you would have if you had been there when this photo was taken after a performance in November 2007! Along with being incredibly handsome, Cheyenne was one of nicest guys around! I have seen Xanadu three times and plan to attend again...this time I want stage seating. RUN do not walk to see this hilarious, witty treasure! Mike from Chicago |

One of my favorite moments is when Thetis on Mt. Olympus screams, "Assassins, Assassins!"
This was the FAMOUS line uttered by Maggie Smith in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie". The connection is that Maggie Smith (yes, from "Harry Potter" fame) played Thetis in "Clash of the Titans". |

The 3rd seeing Xanadu on Broadway was a charm! Got to meet most of the cast for my birthday--thanks for signing the cast CD! |

Looking forward to doing the "du" for the 3rd time on Saturday PM. My 2nd time on stage--1st time was night #1 of the previews on 5/23/07.
Keep doing the DU! |

I know the cast is voting for the best t-shirt contest. But, I just had to make a comment. I absolutely loved the clever design of "I went to Mount Olympus...". I so would have that shirt on! I liked the rest too but this one just jumped at me! Love it!
